Firm in character, but still there is plenty of juicy Merlot, pricked with toast and baked plums. The acidity is intense.

Currants and crushed blackberries, with hints of flowers on the nose. Full body, yet refined and beautiful with polished tannins and a long finish. So balanced. Excellent second wine from Pichon Baron. Try after 2018.
Chateau Pichon-Longueville Baron had a renaissance when the AXA insurance group took over. Managing Director, Christian Seeley, calls the super second its "jewel in the crown". Emphasising selection they stunned wine enthusiasts with their 1988, now regularly challenging for best second growth.
